Source Support Services Utilized the Cloud To Ride Out the Storm

Over a year ago, Source Support Services made the decision to "live" in the Cloud! As a 24/7/365 around the clock services company, the idea of being "down" is completely unacceptable.

"We made it our goal to be able to run the company and every service event even in the event of a disaster like a hurricane or a flood" explains Vice President Greg McKinney "What we didn't really expect was a weeklong blizzard."

In January 2011 – Atlanta got it's "blizzard" a 5-6 inch snow storm that basically paralyzed the city. Declared a state of emergency in GA, the city basically shut down except in a few small places like Source Support Services, who were able to service their customers without missing a beat even despite every single employee stranded and working from their homes - for almost an entire week.

With Source's "Cloud" hosting all the service call programming the entire help desk team was able to work from the comfort of their home. No email was missed or phone call dropped – and every single service event SLA was achieved except for a couple of shipping delays due to the shipping company's like Fed Ex simply not able to operate in the areas.

"Our company direction of moving to the cloud, enabled us to be a true 24/7 service partner, anytime, anywhere in any situation" stated Eric Grammer, Director of Quality and Logistics Services "as well maintaining our quality process whether it be in the office or at home during a disaster, our customers count on Source Support to have a seamless quality support model no matter what happens and we deliver"

The Source Support team realizes it must be prepared for every obstacle that could come their way. "While we won't have to push calls out to cell phones and predetermined LAN lines every day, we know that we can at the touch of a button. It's why we supply tools to each Help-desk Engineer to reproduce their desktop anywhere in the world." Explains Jason Roles, Source's Tech Services Director "Although we were expecting a flood, the 'blizzard' turned out to be a test of our Disaster Recovery Plan and Remote Operations Programs and we were very pleased to see we achieved our goal of being able to operate 100% remotely for one full week.
