This year’s OCP Global Summit theme, “Scaling Innovation for the AI Era,” couldn’t have been more fitting. Over four days in San Jose, nearly every conversation I had came back to the same reality: AI is reshaping the data center from chip to grid. Workloads are moving beyond centralized hyperscale environments into regional colocation facilities and enterprise data centers, so the infrastructure footprint is getting wider and more distributed.
Power and cooling drew much of the attention on the main stage, however many of the conversations I had focused on the day-to-day challenges OEMs are facing as they scale. Every new rack, cooling loop, and power system still has to be installed, commissioned, and supported by people, on a schedule the data center sets. That’s where many OEMs feel the most pressure.
Here’s what stood out to me.
Many of my conversations were about multi-week deployment projects and how hard they are to staff. Construction readiness shifts, equipment shows up early or late, and commissioning windows move. Teams that can add trained local resources find it easier to scale up or down as the timeline changes. They also cut travel costs, free their internal team to cover more sites, and protect their quality metrics without adding fixed headcount.
That start-and-stop reality is a big part of why Source Support has built our Unified Services Platform. Through Source Techworks, we mobilize credentialed field engineers trained to each OEM’s safety, technical, and quality standards. Through the Source Operations Center, we manage utilization as schedules change, so your support moves when the site moves.
One thing that hasn’t changed in the data center in decades: when a system goes down, the clock matters. Getting a trained, certified field engineer on-site within a tight SLA is as important as ever, and it gets harder as footprints spread into new regions.
We’ve spent over 25 years helping OEMs meet that challenge globally. Our 24/7/365 Source Operations Center coordinates dispatch in more than 120 countries, and Source Central tracks every milestone so exceptions surface before they become missed commitments. The result is 97% SLA achievement and 95% customer satisfaction across the programs we support.
As infrastructure environments become more complex and customer expectations continue to rise, every service visit carries more weight. Organizations can no longer view field service as simply a support function. It has become a critical part of the customer experience and an extension of the brand itself.
Quality and customer experience have become meaningful competitive advantages, making it essential that every service interaction reflects the standards and reputation customers associate with your brand.
At Source Support, we’ve built our approach around operating as an extension of our customers’ organizations. Our platform integrates with their systems, and our field engineers are trained on their processes, documentation, and brand standards. When we arrive on-site, we’re there to represent our customers and deliver on their service promise they’ve made to their end users.
For the OEMs and data center operators we support, every service event is a brand event. Most end users will never meet the executives who guide a company’s strategy, but they will remember the person who arrives when critical infrastructure needs to be installed, maintained, or repaired. Those moments shape how customers perceive a brand. That’s why it’s so important that every technician who walks through the door feels like a seamless extension of your team.
The OCP community is setting the open standards that will scale AI infrastructure for the rest of this decade. The service model behind that infrastructure deserves the same rigor. OEMs that orchestrate their service promise as carefully as their infrastructure will be better positioned to keep it in every market they serve. OEMs with an orchestrated, scalable service partner will be able to keep their promise in every market they serve.
If you’re planning 2027 deployments and want a service partner that moves at the speed of your sites, I’d love to keep the conversation going. Reach out to me directly at jeremy.mendoza@sourcesupport.com or to our team at sales@sourcesupport.com.
